RECRUITMENT AND UNIT ASSIGNMENT

  1. General Assignment
All new souls who swear fealty and join the Kingsmen shall be assigned to a Company by decree of Crown Command, according to the needs of the realm, the strength and balance of the companies, and the good order of the host.
  2. Exception for Those Brought by Kin in Arms
Should an existing Kingsman bring forth a new recruit and make plain their wish that the newcomer join their own Company, Crown Command shall, in most cases, grant that wish and assign the recruit accordingly, honouring the bond forged in recruitment.
  3. Request by Crown Command
Crown Command may, when the balance or needs of the companies so require, make formal request of the new recruit to join another Company instead. The reasons for such request shall be given plainly.
This is ever a request, not a command. The choice belongs to the recruit alone. Crown Command shall abide by their will without grudge or penalty.
  4. Prohibition on Unsolicited Company Recruitment
As the sole authority for assigning new recruits to Companies rests with Crown Command, no existing Kingsman shall attempt to recruit or sway a newcomer (who has not been brought in by an existing member with stated intent) toward any particular Company.
Kingsmen may offer welcome, fellowship, and counsel to all new arrivals, but they shall make no promise, entreaty, or effort to direct such recruits to their own or any other specific Company. To do so undermines the rightful order of the realm and the equity of assignment.
  5. Duty of Notification
Any Kingsman who recruits a new member with intent that they join their Company shall without delay inform their immediate commanding officer (their Lieutenant, or their Captain should no Lieutenant be appointed).
That officer shall then bear the tidings upward through the Chain of Command until it reaches a Captain, who shall report the matter to the Justicar of War.
  6. Guidance for All
New recruits are urged to declare any such sponsorship or preferred Company at the time of their swearing-in.
Those who bring in new blood are likewise counselled to make their intent known swiftly to their superiors.
No man or woman shall suffer reproach for following the choice granted in section 3.

This decree upholds the rightful authority of Crown Command in matters of assignment, while cherishing the loyalty and bonds that arise from honourable recruitment among kin in arms. Let all conduct themselves accordingly, for the strength and unity of the Kingsmen.
