LIEUTENANT

(Player)

✹ The Lieutenant commands the Platoon and holds authority over its Sergeants both in preparation for battle and during combat. A Platoon consists of three to five Squads and serves as the principal formation through which the Company conducts its operations. The Lieutenant is responsible for carrying the Captain’s intent to the Sergeants, coordinating the actions of the Squads, maintaining cohesion among the ranks, and ensuring that discipline and order are upheld throughout the Platoon. The Lieutenant receives reports from the Sergeants and delivers them to the Captain so that the condition of their Kingsmen and the needs of the Platoon are known to higher command. ✹

Lieutenants are chosen by Crown Command for each game event. They are responsible for the overall well-being, readiness, and coordination of their entire Platoon. Out of character, their job is to stay in regular contact with their Sergeants, make sure all members of the Platoon are accounted for, and ensure everyone has what they need to participate fully in the event.

The Lieutenant’s primary points of contact are their Sergeants. It is more effective to manage three to five Sergeants than to try and directly oversee every individual in the Platoon themselves. A Lieutenant who uses their Sergeants effectively keeps the entire Platoon running smoothly.

Lieutenants should never hesitate to interact directly with the members of their Platoon when needed. A good officer checks in, stays aware of how people are doing, and provides support, but does not micromanage. They should keep tabs on the general status of their Platoon, listen to concerns, and make sure that their Sergeants have the support and information they need to take care of their squads.

Lieutenants report to their Captain and serve as the bridge between Company-level planning and squad-level execution. They help translate direction from the Captain into clear expectations for their Sergeants. In practice, this means being reachable, being organized, and being willing to step in when something needs attention. The Lieutenant’s job is about coordination, communication, and maintaining the overall health and readiness of the Platoon.
